Unboxing – Accessories (1) and Machine (2)

The Latte Art Factory is delivered in 2 (or 3) boxes. One contains the fridge and modem, plus the Latte Art Factory milk module (may also come separate). The other box contains the equipment for installing the machine. You will also find two smaller boxes with the filter head and the filter itself.

List of contents: 2x metal rods long, 1x metal rod short, 1 cable long with EU/UK plug (main electricity supply), 1x cable short (connection between fridge and milk module), cleaning tablets, set of adapter and quick connectors (1x blue, 1x red, 1x adapter 6mm to 8mm John Guest), T-piece John Guest), 2x 6mm pipes transparent, 1x drip tray (scaffolding and plastic tray), 1x manual + keys for fridge, 2x 1,7l milk tank with lid and connectors, 1x 4l tank, 1x4 cleaning container with lid and connectors (blue).

Preparing the pipes and filter

Take the red and blue quick connectors and squeeze one of the 6mm pipes in tightly into each connector. Make sure you squeeze them in all the way.

Take the grey John Guest adapter and squeeze it tightly onto the other end of the pipe with the blue quick connector. Then feed it into the “OUT” nozzle of the filter.

Feed your 8mm John Guest with fresh water connection into the “IN” nozzle (can also be done later, depending on setup).

Connecting the LAF to water, electricity, and the modem

Pull the Latte Art Factory off the fridge and tilt the module onto its side to expose the connections at the back. Modem with two cables is mounted on top of the fridge.
Connect the blue modem cable with the upper socket (black), not the silver one! Then connect the black modem cable with the small silver socket next to the electricity supply.
Connect the short black electricity cable with the black socket in the middle, and the long cable (main electricity) with the socket next to it (above the switch).
Then connect the blue quick connector with the blue connection (click!) and the red quick connector with the red connection.
Gently lift module up, tilt towards fridge and carefully mount it on top, avoiding to jam the cables. Lastly, connect the short cable to socket at the bottom of the fridge.

Start-up, cleaning and telemetry check

Put the machine in its designated space and connect it to fresh water (8mm John Guest pipe with freshwater connection into filter), wastewater (pop the 6mm pipe into a drainage) and electricity (230V plug). Open all water taps and check for leakage. Switch the machine on. As soon as the menu is displayed, the machine is ready.

First, we check the telemetry. To do so, enter the technical menu by pressing “Settings”, then “Technician”, enter password, press “Settings” -> “System info”. Check if you see the IP (ww.xx.yy.zz). If so, return to menu.
Next, we clean the machine. To clean it, take the blue container and insert a tablet into the designated space in the lid, connect cleaning nozzle with the milk outlet. Select “Settings”, then “Cleaning”, “Cleaning miracle” and confirm the steps. The cleaning starts automatically and takes ~15 minutes. Once finished, remove cleaning container and insert the milk container pre-filled with cold milk.

Milk filling & first calibration

Once milk is inserted, place a container with at least 1L capacity under the outlet. Enter the menu via the “Settings” button, select “Technician”, enter password, then “Technical settings”, “Miracle settings” and choose “MILK type A CAL”.

Confirm container has been placed under the outlet. The calibration process is started automatically. When finished, confirm in the display.

Settings & milk adjustment

In the main menu, you can now select the milk. You will find different types and pre-installed recipes. Place a cup or jug underneath and select a drink. Check the texture and consistency of the dispensed product.

To change the texture, you can adjust the amount of air in the base recipes. To do so, press the “Settings” icon, select “Recipe” and then “Miracle”. In the matrix displayed all base recipes can be selected and amended by adjusting the air content percentage. On the right, you can raise or lower the number.

Always change two or three percent at a time and check the dispensed product until you are happy with the outcome.
